Penn State baseball’s magical Big Ten Tournament run ended with a loss to Nebraska in the conference championship game.
Penn State drew first blood in the bottom of first when leadoff man Joe Jaconski scored on an errant pickoff attempt.
Nebraska threatened in the top of the fourth, putting men on the corners with one out.
But Penn State starter Travis Luensmann got a pop up and and a double play to avert the threat.
Nebraska wouldn’t stay silent forever. The Huskers tied the game in the top of seventh on a solo homer by Josh Carson, who broke the Big Ten Tournament record with six homers. A two-out double by Gabe Swanson put Nebraska in front. Jax Brockett finished off a complete game for Nebraska in the ninth.
Penn State ended Mike Gambino’s first season as head coach with a 29-24 record.
