Penn State Offers Prolific Receiver in Transfer Portal
Matthew O'Haren/USA Today Sports

Following an uneven season from its wide receivers, Penn State will be active at the position in the NCAA Transfer Portal in December. The Nittany Lions got a head start by offering North Texas wide receiver Ja'Mori Maclin, a familiar name for Philadelphia Eagles fans.

Maclin was named second-team All-American Athletic Conference this season after catching 57 passes for an eye-popping 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 17.6 yards per catch and led the conference with five receptions of 50+ yards. His 11 touchdowns tied for sixth in program history.

Maclin (5-11, 183 pounds) began his career at Missouri, playing one season with the Tigers before missing the 2021 season due to injury. He transferred to North Texas in 2022 and was named to the Conference USA all-freshman team after catching 16 passes for 380 yards. In two seasons at North Texas, Maclin averaged 19 yards per reception.

Since entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on Nov. 29, Maclin has received offers from Penn State, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Kentucky and South Carolina, among others. His cousin Jeremy was a two-time All-American at Missouri and first-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009. Jeremy Maclin played five of his eight NFL seasons with the Eagles, earning All-Pro honors in 2014.

The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opens Dec. 4.
