Peyton Manning sends message to former teammate Todd Helton after Hall of Fame news
David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning sent a message to another UT legend on Tuesday evening.

Former Vols baseball star Todd Helton learned on Tuesday that he'll be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame later this year.

Helton spent 17 seasons with the Colorado Rockies.

Before Helton was an All-Star with the Rockies, he played baseball at Tennessee. And he was a quarterback on the football team. In 1994, Helton was initially listed above Manning on Tennessee's depth chart.

Manning, who was at Helton's final career game at Coors Field in 2013, sent a message to his former teammate on Tuesday.

"Was an honor to be your backup, an honor to be your fan, and it’s an honor to be your friend," wrote Manning in a post on Instagram. "Congrats on the HOF Todd, so well deserved."

Who knew way back in 1994 that one day Manning would be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Helton would be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. They each set out to be the best in their respective sports and they certainly accomplished that mission.
