Philadelphia Eagles hold Top 30 visit with elite ball-hawking prospect ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles stacked their secondary last off-season by selecting back-to-back cornerbacks in the first and second rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, after letting Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers walk in NFL free agency in recent weeks, they may need to use their first pick in this year's draft on yet another cornerback.

That said, the Eagles are doing extensive homework on the prospects they're interested in and used one of their Top 30 visits on Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston

Hairston played 32 games at Kentucky over the last three years where he logged six interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), 10 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles for the Wildcats.

And if Hairston's ball-hawking skills aren't enough to impress you, he ran an impressive  4.29 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine last month.

According to draft analyst Keith Sanchez of the Draft Network, Hairston brings not only playmaking ability to the table but also great length and a high football IQ. Here's his scouting report on the Kentucky product:

Maxwell Hairston burst onto the scene as one of the most productive cornerbacks in college football in the 2023 season, recording five interceptions and two returned for touchdowns. Hairston plays within what appears to be a primarily zone defense which supports Hairston’s A-traits: instincts, ball skills, and the ability to be a quick reactor. Through his play, Hairston has elevated himself to be considered a playmaker for the Kentucky defense and one of the most talented defenders in college football.

Hairston has many high-level qualities but the most important trait of his skill set is his ball skills. Hairston has proven to be a ball magnet, always putting himself in situations to be around the football. Whether that's jumping routes, tracking the deep ball, or simply being around for tips and overthrows, Hairston shows that if he can get his hands on the football, he can bring in the pass for the interception and make a big play for the defense.

Overall, Hairston projects to be a high-level contributor in a primary zone scheme who can make big plays for the defense and create turnovers early in his career.

Hairston is a top-5 cornerback and overall No. 31 prospect in this year's draft class.

If Hariston is available when the Birds pick at No. 32 overall, he is going to be tough to pass up.
