Pitt appears to be in danger of losing another recruit in the class of 2024.

Francis Brewu will be taking an official visit to Michigan State this weekend, 247Sports’ Justin Thind reported. It will be the final chance for Brewu to make an official visit — or really interact with another school — before National Signing Day on Dec. 20.

It will also be his most recent visit to East Lansing, Mich. since he attended the Spartans’ game against Washington in September.

Brewu — a 6-foot-2, 270-pound four-star defensive tackle from Worthington, Oh. — has continued to receive interest from other schools since committing to Pitt back in March, and he’s remained steadfast in his commitment.

Since the start of his senior season at Thomas Worthington High, despite his commitment to Pitt, Brewu picked up offers from Michigan State, Miami and Wisconsin.

“It’s a process. If you’re that guy, you’re going to get recruited by schools no matter where you’re committed to,” Brewu told PSN in May. “It’s going to happen. It doesn’t change anything really, depending on the person. It’s just bound to happen; you’re just going to keep getting recruited by big schools if you’re a guy.”

The Pitt coaching staff has already made an in-home visit to Brewu, one of the first stops that Pat Narduzzi and Ryan Manalac made this month, and that was the final in-person push to hold onto his commitment.

Brewu — who was recently elevated to a four-star commit by Rivals — is coming off a dominant season at Thomas Worthington in which he showcased exactly why he’s a perfect fit as an impact tackle in the defensive scheme — stuffing the run and getting into the backfield for sacks and tackles for loss (28 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a nose tackle).

“I just feel like I fit perfectly in that system because they run a four-man system and they run a vertical system, so you can get vertical,” Brewu said.

247Sports rates Brewu as the 655th-ranked recruit in the class (45th-ranked defensive lineman and 19th-ranked recruit from Ohio) while On3 rates him as the 534th-ranked recruit in the class (36th-ranked defensive lineman and 18th-ranked recruit from Ohio).

Rivals rates him as the 20th-ranked defensive tackle and 11th-ranked recruit from Ohio — holding that new four-star status and a 5.8 Rivals Rating.

Brewu is one of a handful of defensive linemen committed to the class of 2024, alongside four-stars Jahsear Whittington and Sincere Edwards and three-stars Zachary Crothers and Ty Yuhas.
