On Thursday, Pitt volleyball added another weapon to its roster with the addition of an international prospect.

The team announced that it has signed Dalia Vîrlan, a prospect out of Romania, to this year’s roster.

Vîrlan joins the roster as a freshman for the 2024-25 season.

She recently competed for the Romanian National Team, earning 11th place at EuroVolley. Pitt also mentioned that she earned fifth place at the U-18 World Championships.

Vîrlan previously played with CSU Bravol Brasov, as well as Dinamo Bucuresti most recently. According to Pitt, she was named the “Best Middle Blocker” and earned second place at the 2022 BVA Tournament. She won “Best Middle Blocker” in the Romanian Championships in 2022, 2023, and 2024, per release.

Vîrlan is 6-feet, 2-inches tall. Her teams also won bronze medals in the Romanian Cup twice — once in 2022-23, and once 2023-24.

Vîrlan joins returning middle blocker Bre Kelley on the roster, as well as two other freshmen middle blockers: Bianca Garibaldi and Ryla Jones.
