Former Oregon Ducks defensive tackle Derrick Harmon may have the best path to success in the NFL out of all ten Ducks drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Harmon will battle on the defensive line alongside Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt, one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Watt will be able to mentor Harmon in his rookie season and show him the ropes.

Harmon will be coached by Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. The Steelers ranked 8th in points allowed last season, so Harmon will be slotting into an already established defense. Harmon will compete for the starting defensive tackle role, so he should be able to see action in the upcoming season.

Pittsburgh drafted Harmon in the first round and after releasing Larry Ogunjobi, so as of now it appears they plan for Harmon to start in his place.

Former Oregon Duck running back Jordan James is an interesting player when discussing which Duck is most set up for success. The San Francisco 49ers obviously have maybe the best running back in the league right now in Christian McCaffrey, but McCaffrey has missed plenty of games the last few years, including 13 last year due to injury. Should McCaffrey go down again next season, James would be next in line.

James will also benefit playing behind a stout offensive line in San Francisco, anchored by future hall of famer left tackle Trent Williams. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan loves to run the ball and use running backs out of the flat to catch, so James will get plenty of opportunities in the 2025 NFL Season. James shouldn't have too much competition for the No.2 role, only needing to beat out Patrick Taylor Jr and Isaac Guerrendo in summer camp.

Oregon Ducks former quarterback Dillon Gabriel has a murkier road to success than Jordan James and Derrick Harmon, but the possibility for a long career is there. Gabriel wont have as much competition as other quarterbacks in the NFL, needing to fend off former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and 40-year old Browns quarterback Joe Flacco to claim a starting role. Gabriel will also be coached by offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave, who himself was a quarterback at Oregon.

The history of the Cleveland Browns is perhaps the most troubling when considering how successful of a career Gabriel could have. The Browns have not been known to go out in free agency and acquire big time wide receivers, nor have they been able to field a competitive team over the last decade minus one year.

Gabriel will have the advantage of playing behind a very solid offensive line, led by key players such as Joel Bitonio, Jack Conklin, Wyatt Teller, and Ethan Pocic. For Gabriel to be successful with Cleveland, it will be imperative that Browns coach Kevin Stefanski remains as the head coach. If the Browns have another disappointing season, it’s possible Stefanksi could find himself on the hotseat.
