Player Who Hurt Caitlin Clark Sends Message to Paige Bueckers

After five years in Storrs, Connecticut, with the UConn Huskies, guard Paige Bueckers officially has a new home, selected by the Dallas Wings as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Joining Bueckers for her first season in Dallas is Dijonai Carrington, the 2024 WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year who spent her first four seasons with the Connecticut Sun.

Carrington was notably involved in an incident with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark last season. She accidentally poked the Rookie of the Year in the eye during a game, resulting in a black eye. 

However, some began to claim that Carrington poked Clark's eye on purpose, but both stars denied this.

“I don’t even know why I would intend to hit anybody in the eye,” Carrington said, per Los Angeles Times. “That doesn’t even make sense to me, but no, I didn’t. I didn’t know I hit her, actually. I was trying to make a play on the ball, and I guess I followed through and I hit her. So obviously it’s never intentional. That’s not even the type of player that I am.”
