Amazon has jumped headfirst into the live sports arena over the last few years, acquiring major rights to competitions like ONE Fighting Championship, the WNBA and the NFL.
Next season will mark another major shift for Prime Video, as Amazon will become an official media partner of the NBA. After over three decades, the league's relationship with Turner Sports is ending. ESPN/ABC, Amazon, and NBC/Peacock will be the league's new rights holders beginning with the 2025-26 season.
Amazon has put together an impressive roster of hosts and analysts for other sports, and they're reportedly taking the same care with the NBA.
According to Front Office Sports, both Dwyane Wade and Candace Parker are expected to join Amazon Prime for its NBA coverage next season.
Wade would work as a game and studio analyst, while Parker would work as a studio analyst for both NBA and WNBA games. The roles are similar to the ones they held for TNT, where they appeared alongside Shaquille O'Neal, Vince Carter, Jamal Crawford and Adam Lefkoe for the network's Tuesday NBA broadcasts.
Wade and Parker would join Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin and Taylor Rooks, who have all signed on to join Prime's NBA coverage team.
Wade hasn't worked as an analyst on NBA games, but he was NBC's lead analyst during Olympic basketball coverage last summer in Paris. Parker has experience calling games and in the studio, both for the NBA and the WNBA.
Other big names to join Amazon's NBA coverage include Stan Van Gundy, who will call games as an analyst as he currently does for Turner. Earlier this week, Marc Stein reported that former two-time MVP Steve Nash will also work as an analyst both in-studio and during games.
Ian Eagle and Kevin Harlan, two veterans of NBA broadcasting, are expected to be Prime's top two broadcasters, working with the aforementioned former players in the booth.
Amazon has been praised for its handling of the NFL's Thursday Night Football, and they also have a presence in Major League Baseball with the New York Yankees. The service will add multiple NASCAR Cup Series races in the summer, and the NBA next fall.
