When the Las Vegas Raiders drafted Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. this offseason, many people started to completely forget about the weapon that is Tre Tucker. In fact, most fans started instantly penciling in the two rookies as starters.

But from what we’ve seen from training camp, the Raiders’ new regime hasn’t shown any sign of being disinterested in what Tucker brings to the table in this Chip K elly offense. Tucker has been amazing, and he’s only showing that more and more the closer we get to the regular season.

Raiders weapon Tre Tucker has crazy catch at training camp

It was clear this offseason, far before the new regime took over, that the Raiders needed to add some more weapons around wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers. They were amazing – Bowers was the best tight end in the league, actually, but the two of them alone are not enough to have a sustainable offense, even with a good quarterback.

Las Vegas added Ashton Jeanty to help the league’s worst run game, and then drafted Bech in the second round, and Thornton Jr. in the fourth round. Naturally, fans started to think about what life looks like with Geno Smith throwing to Bowers, Meyers, Thornton and Bech. It seems people have forgotten what Tucker can do.

He is making sure everyone remembers.

Tucker has been a name we have heard a ton this offseason in training camp, but the play he made recently in practice is just kind of wild. Honestly, not really sure how to describe what he did, but it was pretty acrobatic, and he did so making it pretty contested on cornerback Eric Stokes.

Tre Tucker is going into a pretty big season, where next year is a contract year for him. He’s had a great camp, and is projected to be a starter next to Meyers and Thornton Jr. But, he’s going to have to put up some production this year, and not just do it in the offseason. The Raiders drafted Bech for a reason, and sooner or later he will try and come for that WR3 spot, that is, unless he’s the guy who’s replacing Meyers eventually.
