The world of college football recruiting never stops and even when you receive a commitment, that doesn’t mean much until the pen hits paper. Then, each offseason you have to retain your roster. That is just how it goes nowadays.
Ohio State has had a good spring so far on the trail and the spring game will be another chance for recruits to get on campus.
Back in March, the Buckeyes hosted an SEC commit for a visit, and now he has re-opened his recruitment. It could be something to watch for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State hosted 2026 four-star Duluth (GA) CB Peyton Dyer for a visit near the end of March. Now, Dyer, who has been committed to the Gamecocks since last November, is back on the market.

Ohio State offered Dyer a scholarship back on Jan. 16 and he is ranked the No. 27 cornerback and No. 328 national player, according to 247 Sports Composite. Dyer is a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback with offers from nearly 30 schools including; Michigan, USC, Georgia, and Auburn.
Ohio State has one cornerback commit so far and that is four-star Avon (OH) CB Jakob Weatherspoon. Five-star S Blaine Bradford and four-star S Simeon Caldwell both committed last week and are the other two players the Buckeyes have in the 2026 class for the defensive backfield.
With Dyer’s recruitment back open, it will be interesting to see if the Buckeyes make a big push. After bringing in Devin Sanchez last year, and Aaron Scott and Bryce West the year before, cornerback depth is in a good spot in Columbus. Ohio State currently has the No. 3 ranked recruiting class for 2026.
