Akih, who plays his high school football at Rutherford B. Hayes in Delaware, Ohio, which is approximately 30 miles north of Columbus, has been a heavy lean towards the Buckeyes since being offered. He enjoyed an extremely productive recruiting winter when he picked up offers from Notre Dame, West Virginia, Miami, Indiana, Iowa, USC, Wisconsin and Missouri. However, he had to wait until March 17th to receive his offer from Ohio State.
He eventually scheduled official visits to Ohio State, USC and Miami, but with his first happening this weekend, it would have come as a surprise if any additional were taken or needed. And that became a reality with his commitment to the Buckeyes.
In just nine games during his junior season, Akih, 6-foot-0 and 190-pounds, rushed for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns. He is Ohio State’s14th commitment in the 2026 class, but their first running back.
