Sometimes when a player decommits from a school his future destination is a mystery. That wasn’t necessarily the case with quarterback Gary Chatman Jr. Four days after decommitting from Wake Forest, the three-star from Georgia did the expected.
Immediately after Chatman’s decommitment, Auburn became the leader. Even before he parted ways with the Demon Deacons, the Tigers were the hot topic after they offered Chatman in late April. After that the process developed quickly, which eventually resulted in his flip.
Chatman, 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, plays his football at Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. During his junior season he passed for 1,494 yards and 12 touchdowns, while rushing for 418 yards and five touchdowns.
This is Auburn’s sixth commitment and fifth on the offensive side of the ball. He is also the third from Georgia, joining offensive lineman Jaylon Moore and tight end George Lamons Jr.
