Two of Pitt’s targets in the class of 2025 announced their collegiate commitments over the weekend.
First, on Friday, Amari Evans out of Overtime Elite committed to Tennessee. Then, Isaiah Denis out of Davidson Day committed to North Carolina.
Evans is ranked as the No. 74 player in the senior class of 2025 by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings. Two of 247 Sports’ insiders, Colby Giacubeno and Travis Branham, have predicted that Evans will end up at Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard currently plays for Overtime Elite, but began his high-school career in the WPIAL playing for Bishop Canevin. Evans plays alongside fellow Pittsburgh native Meleek Thomas in Atlanta for OTE’s City Reapers squad. He took official visits to all three of his final three schools: Pitt, Tennessee, and Xavier.
Denis, who officially visited Pitt earlier this fall, chose the Tar Heels over Pitt, Miami, Tennessee, Wake Forest, and Ohio State. 247 Sports ranks the 6-foot-5 guard as the No. 47 player in the nation in the class of 2025.
He plays his high-school ball for Davidson Day in North Carolina.
Denis becomes the second Pitt target to commit to North Carolina this fall, joining Derek Dixon out of Gonzaga Prep in Washington D.C.
Pitt currently owns one commitment in the class of 2025, and that is from guard prospect Omari Witherspoon.
Witherspoon recently joined PSN on The Pittsburgh Basketball Show to break down his decision to come to Pitt and preview his senior season. He plays for the same high school that current Panther Ishmael Leggett played for years ago. Check out the episode below.
