Alabama football’s offense will enter the 2025 season with high expectations with Ryan Grubb leading the unit as its offensive coordinator.
Grubb took over the role after a stint in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.
The veteran offensive mind inherited a talented offense and is most excited about a couple of different aspects of the offense ahead of the 2025 season.
“Honestly, I’m really excited about the way the O-line playing, the physicality they have been showing and the leadership that Parker (Brailsford) has been able to have,” Grubb said. “KP (Kadyn Proctor), it’s been so fun to coach him. He’s a hungry guy. Obviously, he’s a super talented player, god-given ability, but he works really hard and very diligent about his process. So, seeing that and already the improvement of the quarterback room, fires me up.”
There is a competition going on within both rooms at the moment. Alabama is in search of a starting left guard and its next starting quarterback.
Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell continue to compete to be QB1.
Grubb shared each quarterback is taking snaps with the first-team offense on Tuesday.
“Right now, we’re keeping status quo,” Grubb said. “All guys are getting the ones, twos and threes with the exception of Ty. He’s the only guy that is not taking any three reps. It really has been status quo. Today, everybody got a couple of reps with the ones. Ty took a couple of with the twos. So, we’re still moving them around. The guys know that. There is a pretty clean picture moving forward throughout the week.”
Kam Dewberry and Geno VanDeMark continue to compete at left guard. The expectation is that both guard positions have a solid rotation during the upcoming season.
