Baylor HC Scott Drew announced on social media that he is remaining at Waco, turning down the Kentucky job.

“In our program, we strive to put Jesus first, then others, then ourselves. We truly believe God has called my family and I to continue our work here at Baylor, surrounded by the best people and community anyone could be blessed to have. We are grateful for the support of Mack Rhoades, President Livingstone and the entire Baylor Family, and we look forward to working together to bring more championships to Waco. #JOY,” Drew said in a released statement.

Drew has coached at Baylor since 2003, completing one of the best rebuilds in college basketball history. Drew coached the Bears to the national championship in 2021. Drew has turned Baylor into a new blood in college basketball.

Kentucky is now in a scramble after John Calipari took the Arkansas job earlier in the week. The Wildcats have tried with Dan Hurley (UConn) and Drew while being rumored for Billy Donovan (Chicago Bulls), Bruce Pearl (Auburn), Sean Miller (Xavier) and others.

This is the second big job that Drew has declined this offseason, with the first being Louisville during their search process. The Cardinals ended up hiring College of Charleston’s head coach Pat Kelsey.

Drew now remains at Baylor and in the Big 12 Conference.
