The Southeastern Conference has announced every SEC team’s league opponents for the next four seasons. This also came with the official reveal of every team’s three annual opponents, which got leaked on Monday.
As the SEC is moving towards a new nine-game conference schedule, the league will now be requiring each team to schedule at least one Power 4 team as one of its three nonconference games.
The new scheduling format also brings in a new change in opponents. Each team will have three annual opponents that are meant to preserve traditional rivalries, while the other six opponents will rotate yearly.
This will mean that after every two years, every SEC team will have faced every other SEC team. Meanwhile, the three annual opponents will be reevaluated every four years.
As for Texas, its three annual opponents will be Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. While this may come as no major surprise to Longhorns fans, Texas will now be getting the chance to face some new and exciting opponents.
In 2026, Texas will host Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. The Longhorns will then have to travel to face Texas A&M, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, which will be in Dallas.
As for 2027, Texas will have to hit the road to face Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma (Dallas). The Longhorns will also take on Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky at home.
The locations in which Texas faces its three annual opponents will alternate every year. On the other hand, Texas will face the other six teams that it faces in 2026, in opposite locations in 2028. The same goes for the 2027 and 2029 seasons.
It is an interesting time in the SEC, and this will allow Texas to truly immerse itself in the Southeastern Conference as it will face a diverse range of opponents and see some fresh competition in new places.
