The Southeastern Football Conference won 14 of the last 20 college football national championships under Michigan's undefeated title winning season in 2023-2024, 15 counting current member Texas' title in 2005.
On January 20, two teams from northern states will take center stage for for the second straight year on the heels of Michigan's matchup with the Washington Huskies, as Ohio State will play Notre Dame for the national championship in Atlanta.
On Friday, former Michigan Wolverines off-field analyst Connor Stalions, college football's most controversial man from the 2023-2024 season, took to X to share his thoughts on the resurgence of northern teams in college football, appearing to declare the SEC's reign at the top over amid the era of NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) payouts in college football.
"I'd get used to northern teams running college football now that NIL is above table," Stalions said on X Friday.
"The last 2 national championship games: - Michigan - Washington - Ohio State - Notre Dame ... with Oregon & Penn State knocking at the door. Big Ten finished 5-1 vs. the SEC this postseason," Stalions wrote.

"It's staying north," another fan said. "Michigan about to win 2 of the next 4."
"People don't realize how wealthy B10 schools and their alumni are," another commenter said. "The only SEC schools that can compete money-wise are Texas and A&M. Balance of power is definitely swinging back to the B10," they added.
