SEC's Placement in Playoff Rankings Caused Paul Finebaum to Jokingly 'Violate' His ESPN Contract
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday night the latest College Football Playoff rankings were revealed and one conference is "in trouble" according to ESPN's panel of experts.

Just 12 hours after the rankings were released, ESPN college football analyst Heather Dinich and longtime radio host Paul Finebaum addressed the SEC's placement in the latest rankings. Both concurred that the conference will have a few teams in, but it might not be more than the three that are already in place.

The 'Mouth of the South' was particularly hurt by the rankings and even violated his contract as a result. Sure, he's joking...but is he really?

"Yeah Matt my contract does not allow me to say the SEC is in trouble, but I'm going to violate it right here. The SEC is in very big trouble and it really is their own fault," Finebaum said this morning.

"Alabama did it to themselves on Saturday, literally laying the biggest egg of the entire season losing 24-3 against a five-loss team and then, of course, Ole Miss did it as well. But most people are gravitating to the Alabama story today because even after that people in Alabama and you know Matt, think there's still a chance...today there's not much of a chance at all."

Alabama sits at No. 13 in the latest rankings, which the college football world noted is still close enough to sneak into the playoff if chaos hits over the final week of the regular season and conference title games.

The Crimson Tide finish the regular season with an in-state rivalry game against the Auburn Tigers, who just defeated the Texas A&M Aggies in a four-overtime thriller.
