The flirtation between the Las Vegas Raiders and Shedeur Sanders continues.
Despite the chances of Sanders being drafted by the Raiders looking less likely after the team’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, it has not stopped the connections between the two.
During the Raiders’ Week 15 clash against the Atlanta Falcons at Allegiant Stadium, a fan went viral for a sign that simply read “Tank for Shedeur,” making his stance on what the team should do crystal clear.
On his podcast “2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders,” the Colorado quarterback said that he saw the fan’s sign and commented on what he thought about it.
“Whenever you see a fan took his time out of the day to bring that sign and then it’s on TV and everything, it’s just like dang, this is crazy,” Sanders said. “It feels real. It’s real, now.”
While it is nice to see Sanders appreciate the sentiment of the fan, he also appears confident about where he will ultimately go in the upcoming NFL Draft.
If what Sanders said comes to reality, Raiders fans will be left heartbroken come April.
During a conversation with a teammate posted by New York Giants podcast host Dan Schneier, the subject of location came up.
“You don’t know where you’re going,” the teammate said. “The team might trade up.”
“You can’t get higher than one,” Sanders responded.
Shadeur Sanders sounds like he thinks he’s going to the #Giants & we know Schoen/Brown have done a lot of work on him
If the play is to can Daboll, they better already have a plan in place for OC or HC that can mold Sanders. He has talent but every QB needs the right development pic.twitter.com/EOYF8n9w6V— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) December 25, 2024
If the current draft order is what the real thing looks like, the Giants would have the number one pick. Given their woes at the quarterback position, it would be a certainty that they draft one with the first overall selection.
That being said, the pick does not necessarily have to be Sanders. Miami’s Cam Ward has been up there in the discussion for best quarterback available, and the Giants could decide he is more to their liking than Sanders.
Such a turn of events would benefit the Raiders, who could either trade up to get Sanders or stand pat with their current sixth overall pick and hope the board falls correctly.
Sanders to the Raiders has been a conversation that has dominated the past month, and will continue to do so until he hears his name on draft day.
