  • Shedeur Sanders has not yet debuted for the Cleveland Browns after seven weeks.
  • He remains patient, working hard; a reporter confirms he’s making substantial progress.
  • Sanders shared, “not to worry but to lean on and trust GOD in every situation.”

It is already seven weeks into the NFL season, and Shedeur Sanders has yet to make his debut for the Cleveland Browns. The former Colorado Buffaloes star, who fell all the way to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL Draft after initially being projected as a potential first-rounder, has not been given his chance to play in his first NFL game by head coach Kevin Stefanski, despite the developments in Cleveland’s quarterback room.

Deshaun Watson is still out of commission with an Achilles injury, and the Browns recently traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. This opened up the QB1 role for rookie Dillon Gabriel, who has gone 1-2 in his first three starts. Through it all, Sanders has remained on the outside looking in.

The latest report on Sanders, however, is that the 23-year-old has kept his head down amid his current situation. According to Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Sanders is making considerable progress with the team.

"I think this development has gone really, really well behind the scenes,” Cabot said, via 92.3 The Fan on X. “That is what I'm hearing with the people that I've talked to. He's making progress in every way."

This latest development speaks volumes about Sanders’ outlook. It appears that the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders is remaining patient as he waits for his number to be called. Sanders has continued to put in the hard work, which has produced considerable results for the young quarterback.

On Wednesday, Sanders took to social media to share a message about keeping the faith. He acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his current situation, but he’s remained steadfast, guided by his belief in the Almighty.

“The greatest lesson I’ve learned through it all is not to worry but to lean on and trust GOD in every situation,” he posted on X. “Even when I don’t know what to do, I’ve learned that GOD will always guide me. I live stress-free because I know that, no matter what, GOD has the final say over my life. I’m able to persevere through trials because I come from a family built on morals, values, and unshakable principles.

“Growing up, I had access to a lot, and maybe without my understanding shaped my world view, but I’ve realized that peace, purpose, and faith can’t be bought. They have to be built. True success is who you become while waiting on GOD’s timing. GOD’s pace protects what your purpose will one day require.”

It is currently unclear when Sanders will take the field for the Browns. While there have been some indications of his imminent debut, nothing is set in stone. Nevertheless, the young man has made it abundantly clear with his statement here that he will continue to persevere.

The 2-5 Browns are back in action on Sunday in a Week 8 matchup against Drake Maye and the 5-2 New England Patriots. It’s a road game for Cleveland at Gillette Stadium, with kickoff scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET.
