It was a great season for the Tennessee State Tigers, who wound up going 9-4 capped with a Big South—Ohio Valley Conference co-championship until they ultimately lost to the Montana Grizzlies in the first round of the FCS playoffs.
However, after the season ended, Eddie George, the Tigers' head coach and 1995 Heisman Trophy winner, revealed that he would be accepting the head coaching job with the Bowling Green Falcons.
Since that major change, Tennessee State has had a steady stream of talented players hit the transfer portal, and one of the latest is Eddie's son, sophomore defensive lineman Eriq George.

Coming out of high school in the class of 2023, George wasn't a very highly-touted player, with 247Sports ranking him as a zero-star recruit, with offers from other smaller programs such as Marshall, UT Martin, and Eastern Kentucky.
George has seen action in both of his two seasons with the Tigers, accumulating 82 total tackles, 18.4 tackles for loss, eight sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
His best season certainly came in 2024, racking up a bulk of those numbers with 57 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
Some other notable names that have left Tennessee State through the transfer portal include three-star linebacker Sanders Ellis, three-star linebacker Tyler Jones (UTEP) and three-star running back Jordan Grant (Akron).
