Willem Jacob le Roux, a South African-born rugby player, has signed a two-year contract with Blue Bulls in the United Rugby Championship.

Director of Rugby Jake White says there is a need to keep such experienced players, and it's good news for everyone at Bulls.

“ It’s great to have Willem stay with us; we need his experience, and I believe his stay is good news to the team, coaches, and fans,” Jake said in a club statement.

The versatile fullback, who is known for his vision, tried assisting and expressed his excitement to extend his stay and help the younger players who break through.

“ South Africa will always be my home, but my teammates at Vodacom Bulls have been my reason to stay, hopefully, I can continue helping younger players here, I love the stadium,” Williem said in a statement.

Willie acknowledged the vibes the supporters bring and how special it is to put on the jersey every week .

Le Roux will be part of the squad in a match against Aviron Bayonnais in the EPCR Challenge Cup round of 16 this Saturday.

The South African-born joined the Blue Bulls in 2023 and made his debut against Connacht in the United Rugby Championship

Le Roux was selected to represent the Springboks for the first time during the Quadrangular tournament of 2013 against Italy, Scotland, and Samoa.

He was among five nominees for the IRB Player of the Year award in 2014; in 2019, he was part of the South African squad that beat England in the Rugby World Cup Final.

He is one of the 43 players who have won the Rugby World Cup title on multiple occasions. In 2023, he was part of the Rugby World Cup squad that defeated New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final.
