Starbucks is marking the day after Super Bowl 60 by giving customers a chance to pick up free coffee across the UK and US, as long as they know how to claim it.
The offer is tied to Starbucks Rewards and runs for one day only, combining a free drink promotion with the launch of a brand new coffee that nods to the company’s origins.
To qualify for the free coffee, customers must be members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty programme. On Monday, 9 February, members can receive a free tall 12-ounce iced or brewed coffee when they purchase another qualifying drink of equal or greater value.
The free drink excludes ready-to-drink bottled beverages and alcohol. The promotion applies to standard brewed and iced coffees, making it accessible for most in-store orders placed that day.
Customers who are already signed up will find the free coffee offer inside the Starbucks app. Those who are not yet members can still join on the day. If the offer does not immediately appear in the app, new members can order in store and let the barista know they have just joined Starbucks Rewards.
The free coffee promotion also coincides with the debut of Starbucks 1971 Roast, a new everyday coffee designed to reflect the company’s beginnings. The name references 1971, the year Starbucks opened its first store at Seattle’s Pike Place Market.
The 1971 Roast is a dark roast blend made from coffees sourced from Colombia, Sumatra and Brazil. It will be available both as a brewed option in stores and as a take-home packaged coffee, allowing customers to try it beyond the one-day promotion.
Alongside the new coffee, Starbucks is also releasing a 1971-themed drinkware collection on the same day. The range includes mugs, tumblers and cold cups inspired by the company’s early branding, with items available while stocks last.
For Starbucks Rewards members, Monday offers a simple way to grab a free coffee, test a new roast and see a fresh range of merchandise, all timed to land the day after Super Bowl 60.
