The first night of SummerSlam is in the books, and it was jam-packed with moments. The first thing I want to say is that Seth Rollins did what I thought he was gonna do, cash in on CM Punk after Punk beat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. The second is that country mega star Jelly Roll is officially a “badass”! I will break down that and much more on my breakdown for night one of SummerSlam.
There were plenty of moments on night one of SummerSlam, and the biggest one was the ruse of the century. It would happen in the main event of the night, which was the World Heavyweight Championship match between Gunther and CM Punk, in what was a technical wrestling Masterpiece that both wrestlers put on. It would be CM Punk that would pin a bloody Gunther to win his first Heavyweight Title since returning to the WWE in 11 years.
His moment would be short-lived with Seth Rollins’ music hitting, and He and Paul Heyman came out. Rollins was in a brace with crutches, and Heyman was holding the Money In The Bank Briefcase. It would look like a statement to Punk, like remember Rollins has till June to cash that in. Rollins would then turn around and start to head back to his gorilla position, but he stops, drops the crutches, then turns back to take the brace off.
The crowd went wild when Rollins grabbed that Briefcase to start running to the ring to a beaten and worn out Punk. Rollins slides in the ring with Punk, trying to hit him with the title missing. Rollins would beat Punk down with the Briefcase. Then Rollins hands the Briefcase to referee Jessica Karr to cash in officially once the bell rang, Rollins hit his stomp and got the one, two, three.
Seth Rollins used his acting skills to lead everyone to think he would be gone for a long time. Then, when Punk and the WWE Universe thought this moment would be Punk’s, Rollins would have different plans in what a lot are calling the Ruse of the Century! Stay tuned to Total Apex Sports for everything that happens on night two of SummerSlam.
