Temple HC K.C. Keeler couldn't help but tell everyone what he actually thought of the Sooners, and it wasn't just coach speak

Before their game on Saturday, Temple Owls head coach K.C. Keeler said he and his team have unrealistic expectations of winning, because that's how their program is run – not being realistic. And that's a cool way to go about things, and listening to Keeler, you can tell he is a great coach. But the Oklahoma Sooners and their defense didn't care about any of that.

Keeler let everyone know how he actually felt after the game.

“Their defense has some savages," Keeler told the reporters on-site after the game.

That's one way to put it.

Sooners' defense had its way with Keeler and his Owls

On Saturday in Philadelphia, we saw just another wrinkle, another layer of what this Oklahoma Sooners defense can do. And, man, can they absolutely wreck stuff. Let's just put things into perspective for everyone, shall we? Temple had 329 rushing yards in their game against Howard before their game against OU. Yes, 329 rushing yards in one game, along with 231 passing yards. Before that, they had 276 passing yards and 191 rushing yards against UMass.

Against Oklahoma, they had just 27 rushing yards and 78 passing yards. The Owls had just seven total first downs, were sacked four times, and were tackled for a loss 11 times. It's clear the Sooners' defense was working and doing whatever they wanted against the Owls. So, yeah, I'd describe the defense as some savages as well. Now, I know what everyone is thinking – Temple is just an American Conference team, but they're one of the better ones in the AAC this year, as Keeler has turned them around.

But, you get the feeling that the Sooners are going to be this way against SEC offenses, too. Last year, they had maybe the best defense in the SEC, but were constantly put in terrible positions because of the offense. This year, the defense is better, and the offense is so much better. And, it feels like a ton of these SEC teams are down in terms of their offensive output this year.

When they play the Auburn Tigers this weekend, who seem to be much better than everyone thought, we will really find out if this group can be as reckless and savage as they have been against others. Then, after that, the Sooners still have to play the Texas Longhorns, Ole Miss Rebels, Alabama Crimson Tide, Missouri Tigers, LSU Tigers, and the Tennessee Volunteers. This season is going to get crazy.
