The 2025 MLB Draft has been a reminder of just how tough Tennessee Vols head coach Tony Vitello's job is.

Vitello's lost several underclassmen to the 2025 MLB Draft. He's also lost several elite players that were committed to Tennessee to the draft (three in just the first 25 picks of the draft).

Tennessee has a lot to sell to recruits and transfers, but the MLB draft always looms as a threat to poach talent from the Vols.

That's why Tennessee had to be happy on Monday to hear that Vols LHP Brandon Arvidson, who was draft eligible as a redshirt sophomore, is planning to return to Knoxville for the 2026 season (according to 247Sports' Ben McKee).

Arvidson allowed zero earned runs in seven of his last eight appearances in 2025, including 5.1 innings in a win against the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Tournament (he allowed an unearned run in that outing).

The return of Arvidson in 2026 will provide Tennessee with some extremely important pitching depth.
