The Los Angeles Rams fell to the Cleveland Browns in their preseason finale , but it wasn’t without a strong performance from tight end Terrance Ferguson.
The second-round draft pick out of Oregon missed the Rams’ first two preseason games because of a groin injury, but quickly showed the kind of impact he can make when healthy.
Ferguson played about half the game and caught both of his passes on the Rams’ first touchdown drive. The first was a long 33-yard pass from Dresser Winn, and he later added 15 more yards on a check-and-release route.
Ferguson said he felt good in his first NFL game and credited the Rams training staff for getting him back to full health, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:
“I felt great out there,” Ferguson said postgame. “Everyone’s done a great job of just making sure that I’m healthy and where I need to be.”
Ferguson discussed his first NFL catch and said it helped him get more comfortable on the field:
“It was a good play they called up for me,” Ferguson said on the broadcast. “I knew my number and Dresser was gonna come to me, so it’s a big thing for me to have that first catch, stretch the field a little bit, showcase vertical speed.”
The Rams took Ferguson with the 46th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, so they understandably have high expectations for him.
Ferguson was more of a pass-catcher at Oregon, but he already has made strides as a blocker and can potentially develop into one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
Ferguson will be part of a talented Rams tight end room this season that also includes Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen.
When the Rams selected Terrance Ferguson in the 2025 NFL Draft, he knew from the beginning that it was going to be a good fit.
“Man, it’s such a blessing,” he said after being drafted. “I’m super excited and couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than God has put in my hands. I’m just super excited.”
“I got the call. I’m back home at my house in Denver, Colorado with my family, just close family and some friends. We just got to share that special moment of a dream coming true. I got the call and was super excited for the opportunity but also blessed to be able to look back and be grateful for the moment. Just everything that God has put in my hands… I’m just super excited and blessed.”
