Who does Texas A&M miss from the SEC schedule?

Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

The Aggies miss Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee - it doesn’t get a whole lot better than that, considering Texas is a regular on the slate now.

Vanderbilt might be better, but you’d still rather have it on your SEC slate. Assume Oklahoma and Kentucky will be stronger - A&M should get the Sooners on their slate - so there’s no real complaining about missing them.

Texas A&M football schedule, the good and the bad

The Good: There’s just one road game until October 18th. It’s a whopper of a trop to Notre Dame, but take care of home and it’s at least a 5-1 start. As tough as the second half is, at least there’s a much-needed, well-timed week off on November 1st, and the Samford scrimmage coming before Texas is a must. The Aggies only leave the State once in November.

The Bad: The wins had better pile up fast because that second half of the campaign is potentially brutal. That road game at Notre Dame is made worse with SEC away dates at LSU, Texas, and Missouri - and Arkansas, who’ll be dangerous.

The team has to have full focus during the dog days with no home games for a month from mid-October to mid-November.

Texas A&M Football Schedule: Best and worst case scenarios

Best Case Scenario: The Aggies beat Notre Dame. That’s not to say anything in the SEC is a given, but they take care of the Irish on the way to a 6-0 start. They take care of the road game against Arkansas and win two of those three second-half road games, and don’t whiff from there … and, of course, beats Texas in Austin.

Worst Case Scenario: The Aggies lose to Notre Dame, get tripped up by Auburn and/or Florida, and then the road pain kicks in. They lose at LSU and Missouri, and they’re well out of the SEC title hunt before going to Texas. Realistically, there’s no concern about going bowling, but A&M needs that win over Samford to lock it in.

Season Prediction: (Jan. 29) The Aggies start out 4-2 - losing to Notre Dame and dropping one of the home games to Auburn or Florida - but bounces back to get by Arkansas.

There are way too many 50/50 games that go the wrong way, but it’s a strong season leading to a good bowl slot, but not the CFP or SEC Championship.

The Season Prediction will be updated several times this offseason
