With the Texas A&M Aggies continuing to build their 2026 recruiting class, this summer will be crucial to watch as several high-profile players make their decisions.
One of those players is Jamarion Carlton, a four-star edge rusher from Temple, Texas. Standing at 6-foot-4.5 and 230 pounds, Carlton ranks as the No. 43 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class according to On3's rankings, as well as the No. 8 edge rusher and No. 4 player in the state.
On Saturday, Carlton announced that he would announce his commitment on July 10. He previously included Texas A&M in his final six schools, alongside Baylor, LSU, SMU, Texas and USC.
“It is like a family there and I have a great bond with most of the staff," Carlton said of Texas A&M. "When I go there, everyone knows me and it is a special place. How they welcome me and the hospitality always stands out.”
Carlton is also set to visit Texas A&M on June 12. He previously announced visits to Texas on June 6 and Baylor on June 20.
“Outside of the relationships, playing early will be a factor in my commitment,” Carlton told On3 earlier this year. “That feeling on campus is important for me too. Feeling comfortable and making sure everything fits me is what I am looking for on the visits and when I make my decision.”
Texas is currently a heavy favorite to land Carlton, with On3 giving him a 91.8 percent chance to land in Austin. SMU is a distant second at 2.6 percent, followed by Texas A&M at 1.8 percent.
The Aggies' recruiting class, which currently ranks sixth in On3's team rankings, features two four-star edge rushers in Jordan Carter from Georgia and Samu Moala from California. Carter committed to Texas A&M Aggies in February, while Moala did so back in October.

As Utah right tackle Spencer Fano continues to rake in preseason accolades and recognition from around the country, his stellar play along the offensive line last year could help him bring home one last end-of-season trophy as well. Fano has been nominated by his school for the 2024-25 Big 12 Athlete of the Year award, the league announced on Wednesday. All 16 members of the Big 12 have chosen one male and one female athlete of any classification who competed for their institution and were in good academic standing during the 2024-25 campaign. Fano's been selected as the Utes' Male Athlete of the Year nominee, while Utah gymnast Grace McCallum is the school's candidate for the Female Athlete of the Year award. Fano heads into his junior season with a lot of eyeballs watching him after an impressive 2024 campaign in which he received All-America honors from Pro Football Focus (first team), the Associated Press (second team) and the Walter Camp (second team). He also garnered All-Big 12 first team honors from both the coaches and media, and was a finalist for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award. Fano recently added All-Big 12 preseason honors to the collection of awards he's received ahead of the 2025 campaign. The 6-foot-6 Spanish Fork, Utah, native has also been labeled as the top returning offensive lineman in the country by PFF and an All-American by the Walter Camp. McCallum, entering her senior year, is coming off a national runner-up finish in vault, bars, floor and all-around competition. She's the reigning Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and the conference champion in vault and all-around. LA Lakers will be ‘big winners’ this offseason if Rob Pelinka can agree one more deal, it’s ‘an important moment’
The Los Angeles Lakers are under immense pressure to at least contend for the NBA championship in the 2025-26 season. JJ Redick is now a second-year head coach, Luka Doncic has adjusted to his new surroundings, and LeBron James is one year closer to retirement. The Lakers’ front office has strengthened the roster since last season, despite the departure of Dorian Finney-Smith, with the signings of Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart in free agency. However, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst thinks general manager Rob Pelinka desperately needs to complete one more deal this offseason. Brian Windhorst highlights the importance of Luka Doncic signing an extension Doncic seemed happy with the Dallas Mavericks and had no interest in switching teams, but that decision was taken out of his hands when GM Nico Harrison traded him to the LA Lakers. Even though he was proud to be a Laker and excited to team up with LeBron James, there was no guarantee that he would be willing to sign a contract extension. Well, it now appears likely that Doncic will re-sign with LA, which Windhorst thinks would make them “one of the biggest winners” this offseason. “I cannot overstate how much of a disadvantage it was for the Lakers to lose the ability to give Luka the supermax,” Windhorst said. “He is completely disincentivized to extend his contract this year. “The only reason he would want to is because he believes in the Lakers, a team he did not ask to be traded to. It would be another thing if he said, ‘Trade me to LA.’ “So, from the moment that the shock wore off that Luka was a Laker, I have been focused on whether he was going to sign, and the signs point to the signing. I am not going to dismiss that as an important moment. “I never thought it was a guarantee, even though the Lakers really tried to make it seem it was no big deal. I think it’s a big deal, and if it happens, I think the Lakers are one of the big winners of the entire NBA this summer.” Luka Doncic is under pressure to win the NBA title this season LeBron James and the LA Lakers organization already know what it feels like, but the immense pressure that Luka Doncic is about to be under will be a new experience for him. With no disrespect to the Dallas Mavericks, winning a championship is an aspiration rather than an expectation. Now, in Los Angeles, Doncic will be expected to follow in the footsteps of James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Magic Johnson in adding another banner to the collection. Age of recent Finals MVP winners Plus, Doncic’s standing within the league will take a hit if he does not win a title soon. Besides Stephen Curry, who already had three rings, the most recent Finals MVP recipients were all 28 or under. Doncic turns 27 in February, so it’s about time he delivered in the postseason like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, and others have lately.
Suns Predicted to Swap Two Veterans For Young Warriors Forward in Offseason Trade
The Phoenix Suns had a busy start to their offseason but since free agency began, they have been very quiet. Of course, the Suns have made multiple moves this offseason to retool their roster around Devin Booker that all started with them sending Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for a package centered around Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the pick they used to select Khaman Maluach. Phoenix also acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets and added Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the draft before moving on from Bradly Beal via a contract buyout. The Suns are expected to make more moves this offseason and one player they have recently been linked to is Golden State Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga who they could acquire via a sign-and-trade. With this in mind, Sports Illustrated’s Jackson Caudell and Rohan Raman recently came up with a three-team mock trade that would send Kuminga to the Phoenix Suns. In the trade, the Suns would send Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neal and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to Golden State for Kuminga and Moses Moody. Phoenix would also send Nick Richards to the Atlanta Hawks who would be the third team in this mock trade. For the Suns, adding two more young players in Kuminga and Moody would be beneficial to the future of their franchise and they would also be able to move on from two veterans in O’Neal and Allen who have been in trade rumors since the offseason began. Kuminga would likely have a large role in the Suns’ rotation next season and Moody would be a solid addition to their bench behind Booker and Green. Despite this, the Warriors may be unwilling to move on from both Kuminga and Moody in the same trade without receiving more in return but this trade could be a solid one for the Suns as they try to turn their franchise around.
Tony Marinaro: In the best-case scenario, a 40-goal season for Laine is possible

By not having a regular line-up. With an injury-plagued knee. And yet, he helped the Habs earn their ticket to the spring dance. With better support and health, he might have been able to put in even more. And that’s what Tony Marinaro said on the latest episode of his Sick Podcast. Without saying he sees Laine scoring 40 goals next season… Marinaro seems to think there’s a world in which the Finn can score 40. The stars have to align: Laine needs to arrive at camp fit, he needs to stay healthy… and he needs to take advantage of the talent of Ivan Demidov – and Kirby Dach, if it works out – to produce even more. [content-ads] Do I believe it? Not necessarily. Because there’s one thing I’m not sure about: Laine might not play on the top-6 if Zachary Bolduc explodes, and Laine might lose his spot on the 1st wave of the powerplay with the emergence of a guy like Demidov. That said, we know the big sniper has the shot and the skills to pull off a feat like this. If that happens, the Habs could have two excellent scorers in Caufield and Laine… and Tony Marinaro makes a good point of mentioning it: if these two guys are able to fill the net, the Canadiens are going to have a wicked good chance of making the playoffs.Especially in the context that the Canadiens are the only club in their division to actually be better – on paper – than they were last season. I can’t wait to see how Laine performs, because he’ll have to work hard to be an important player in Montreal next season.
