Message board rumors connecting Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello to other head coaching jobs in college baseball have become an annual tradition over the last couple of years.

Nearly every spring/summer, rumors start to pop up that another team is either making a concerted effort to steal Vitello from the Vols or that another team already has a deal done with the longtime UT head coach.

And those rumors always prove to be completely bogus.

That's why Tennessee fans shouldn't sweat the latest round of wild message board rumors connecting Vitello to the Texas job, which, by the way, isn't currently open (David Pierce is still the head coach at Texas, despite recent criticism).

Here's the latest crazy rumor involving Vitello.

There's obviously no truth to that message board post. It's likely just a random fan looking to cause some chaos on an internet forum (it's amazing that people have that much time to waste).

For starters, Vitello has no reason to leave Tennessee. He works under one of the top athletic directors in the nation in Danny White, who is completely aligned with Vitello's vision for the program.

Additionally, there's a less than zero chance that Vitello would even entertain the idea of another job while Tennessee's season is still in progress. That's not to say that I think he would entertain the idea of another job after the season -- I don't necessarily think he would (though no one can truly speak for Tony V except for Tony V) -- but there's no chance he's taking his attention away from his team during a run to Omaha to think about another job.

As long as Tennessee keeps winning and making trips to the College World Series, top programs in need of a coach will likely reach out to Vitello to gauge his interest. But as far as Vitello actually leaving for another college job? Well, I'd have to see it to believe it.
