The Latest Update on Arch Manning Will Surprise Some Fans

Archie Manning, the grandfather of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, put a stop to recent speculation about his grandson’s future on Wednesday.

In an interview with Texas Monthly, the former NFL quarterback said clearly, “Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas.” The comment was in reference to rumors that the younger Manning could enter the 2026 NFL Draft after just one full season as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback.

The Manning family has always been measured when it comes to career decisions, and Archie’s statement suggests Arch is following the same path. Both Peyton and Eli Manning stayed in college through their senior seasons, and the family has shown a consistent belief in long-term development over early exits. Arch appears to be no different.

While the buzz around Arch Manning has grown since he took over Texas’ offense late in 2024, NFL scouts still want to see a full season of production. He threw for nine touchdowns and rushed for four more last year in limited action, but with Texas moving into the SEC and facing a top-tier schedule this fall, Manning’s true draft stock will be shaped by how he handles a full year under center.

Archie Manning’s comments also show confidence in the Texas program and head coach Steve Sarkisian. By stating that Arch will return in 2026, the family is signaling belief in the Longhorns’ development plan and stability moving forward.

For Texas fans, it is a rare bit of clarity in the chaos of draft speculation. If Arch delivers on the field in 2025, he may be a top pick when the time comes. But according to the man who has seen it all before, that time won’t be next spring.
