With the first-ever AUSL regular season in the books, the focus shifts to the AUSL Cup as 60 players vie to become champion. On Thursday, the draft for Series One of the AUSL Cup took place. Team captains Amanda Lorenz (Gold), Lexi Kilfoyl (Orange), Aleshia Ocasio (Blue), and Georgina Corrick (Purple) chose their rosters. Without question, there were takeaways from each squad and their respective rosters.

Team Lorenz With Some Voltage

For Lorenz’s team, she made sure to add some great arms, especially one she knows quite well in right-hander Rachel Garcia. Garcia, the 2023 AUX Champion, was solid for the Volts in the regular season, leading the team in strikeouts (51) and strikes thrown (598). Also, Lorenz selected UTIL player Danieca Coffey. Coffey had a .283 batting average with a .760 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging) this season.

Team Kilfoyl And The Orange Bandits

Without question, Team Orange will look familiar to both AUSL and Bandits fans as 10 players are on the roster. This includes Taylor McQuillin, Erin Coffel, Danielle Gibson Whorton, Sydney McKinney, and Bubba Nickles-Camarena. McQuillin went 3-1 with 28 strikeouts and four saves in the AUSL regular season. Coffel took home Hitter of the Year honors along with being the AUSL MVP.

She and Nickles-Camerena finished in the top five in home runs. What’s more, Gibson Whorton was third in RBIs as McKinney was in the top 10 in OPS. Below is a look at Kilfoyl’s squad for Series One of :

Team Ocasio And The Blue Blaze

Similar to Team Kilfoyl, Ocasio focused on teammates as she took seven players from the very talented Blaze team. Aliyah Andrews, Korbie Otis, and Aubrey Leach were among the seven players.

Andrews had a batting average of .340 with 1.113 OPS as well as a .944 fielding percentage in the regular season. Otis made the AUSL All-Defensive Team while possessing a .348 batting average with two homers, eight RBIs, and a .922 OPS. Finally, Leach hit .355 with seven RBIs and a .904 OPS for the Blaze in the regular season.

Team Corrick With The Purple Talons

Lastly, Corrick went the way of Ocasio and Kilfoyl by drafting her teammates, getting seven of them from the AUSL champion Talons. She took Montana Fouts with her first pick while drafting Sydney Romero, Caroline Jacobsen, and Sharlize Palacios among others.

Fouts was fourth in the AUSL regular season in strikeouts (33) and second to Corrick in ERA (2.21). Next, Jacobsen was second on the Talons with. a .367 batting average, an OPS of 1.014, 18 RBIs. As for Palacios, she too made the All-Defensive Team while also hitting .265 with two homers and seven RBIs.

When Does The AUSL Cup Begin?

In Holly Springs, North Carolina, all four teams face off in a doubleheader as it will be Team Ocasio vs. Team Kilfoyl in Game One and Team Lorenz vs. Team Corrick closes out the action. It gets underway at 2:00 pm ET on ESPN2.
