Before he joined Inter Miami and Brentford as a professional footballer, Romeo Beckham wanted to become a tennis player.

David Beckham built a tennis court in his garden and Romeo even trained with three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray.

The star pursued the sport for many years, and the Beckham family even enlisted the help of former world number three Grigor Dimitrov to train the rising star.

After working with Romeo Beckham on the court, Dimitrov was positive about the star’s potential to become a top player.

Grigor Dimitrov said Romeo Beckham would ‘go far’ in tennis

Dimitrov trained with Beckham in 2018 and he liked what he saw from the son of the Manchester United legend.

Speaking to Hello!, the Bulgarian revealed: “I mean Romeo is such a big tennis fan, it’s unbelievable, and he’s quite crafty to be honest and pretty talented. So if he keeps on going the same way, he will go far.”

The star praised Beckham’s passion for the sport and suggested he could have what it takes to become professional.

He added: “He’s very dedicated, I’m always going to support that kind of behaviour. If you want to pursue that, you have to pursue it to the end.”

Beckham returned to football shortly after Dimitrov’s glowing comments as he joined Inter Miami at the age of 18.

Romeo Beckham trained with Andy Murray at Queen’s

Beckham went to watch Murray practice at Queen’s, but he ended up getting a lot more than he bargained for.

Murray brought Beckham onto the court and they practiced together in 2016, the same year the Scot won the tournament.

David Beckham was stunned by Murray’s generosity with his son and praised the Grand Slam champion for his time.

He said: “When you look at role models, you want them to be passionate about the sport and to play hard all the time. Andy is one of those players and is a great model for many kids around the world.”

Beckham has remained a member of Queen’s Club, and was even spotted at the tournament this season.
