'They Would Have Picked Him': Jason Kelce Gets Real On Shedeur Sanders Huge Draft Drop

Jason Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles center, discussed Shedeur Sanders and his crash in the recently concluded 2025 NFL draft on the ‘New Heights’ podcast. Kelce and his brother, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, shared their personal opinions about what may have led to Sanders’ draft stock plummeting, despite him putting up pretty fantastic numbers in his college football career.

Many NFL analysts felt that Sanders was not picked in the first few rounds of the draft simply because of his ‘arrogant’ attitude in the pre-draft process and interviews. Still others explained that NFL general managers might be a way of Deion Sanders’ influence on his son’s career and that Coach Prime may interfere with team management in regards to Shedeur Sanders.

“I think the reality, to me, and the way I look at it, is it’s hard to find a great quarterback in this league. If these teams really felt that Shedeur Sanders was a top first-round talent, they would have picked him. That’s what I think. You mean to tell me if Michael Vick had these same exact off-the-field things happening, or, you know, if he had Michael Vick’s exact talent, he wouldn’t have been taken in the first round? Of course, he would have.” Jason Kelce spoke about Shedeur Sanders in the latest episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast.

Jason Kelce seemed to have a polarizing opinion in regards to why Shedeur Sanders was not called out in the first four rounds of the NFL draft. He basically seemed to assert that Sanders was simply not termed good enough to be a top pick in the draft.

Shedeur Sanders, the youngest son of Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders, split his college football career between the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes. In his senior year for Colorado, the quarterback threw for a total of 4,134 yards, scoring 37 touchdowns and managing ten interceptions.

Jason Kelce’s Latest ‘New Heights’ Guest Stopped Watching Football Because Of Tom Brady

In their latest podcast episode, Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce brought in actor/filmmaker Ben Affleck. Affleck was of course asked plenty of football from the two sport aficionados. Apparently, the award-winning actor used to be nuts about football, especially because of his favorite player Tom Brady.

However, after Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, Ben Affleck stopped following the game. Currently, he only watches it casually. After leaving the Patriots, Brady played two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring from the game completely.
