Tottenham Hotspur have been trying to sign Savinho from Manchester City, but they have not been able to get the deal across the line.
The 21-year-old needs to leave Manchester City in order to play regularly, and the move to Spurs would be ideal for him. However, the Premier League side are unwilling to sanction his departure.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have not given up on the signing yet, and they are ready for ‘one more try’ in order to get the deal done. They have had a €50 million proposal rejected for the player, and they are now prepared to come back with an offer in excess of €70 million. Savinho is reportedly ‘keen’ on the move.
They need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and the Brazilian would be the ideal acquisition. He has the tools to develop into a top-class Premier League attacker with the right guidance. Regular football in England could bring out the best in him and help him fulfil his potential.
With the World Cup coming up, he will look to play regularly so that he can cement his place in the Brazilian national team. Tottenham could provide him with that opportunity. Thomas Frank has done well to groom talented attackers at Brentford, and he could play a key role in the development of the South American as well.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs come forward with a lucrative proposal in the remaining days of the window. Convincing Manchester City to sell the player will be difficult for them, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
They must add more quality and depth to the attacking unit if they want to fight for trophies this season. They looked quite toothless in the attack last season, and they have lost Son Heung-min earlier this summer. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are sidelined with injuries as well. Although they have added Mohammed Kudus to the side, they need another quality creator, and Savinho would be ideal.
