On Monday, it was reported that Penn State students did not request their full allotment of tickets, allowing 5,000 tickets to be sold to the general public, per Audrey Snyder of The Athletic.
Nittany Lions fans and students immediately took to social media to complain that they had not received tickets. One post from a PSU fan named Dylan Dawson garnered over 2.5 million views on X.
"PSU students requested their allotment. I didn't get my ticket, neither did a lot of my friends. The CFP has their hands in this. Significantly shrinking the student section to make more off of the general seating.
"And now a ton of PSU seniors will miss out on this opportunity."

The ticket inventory and pricing are controlled by the CFP. All students who requested tickets by the Friday, Nov. 29 deadline received tickets, and no student requests were turned away prior to the Nov. 29 deadline.
As a follow-up, Snyder released a statement she received from Penn State Athletics and more reporting on the controversy.
She added that the student lottery and season ticket holder request system were used to assuage fears that TicketMaster might crash.
Audrey received many screenshots from students' invoices and official email communications who did not receive a ticket. Some Penn State season ticket holders are dealing with the same issue.
Coming off a 45-37 loss to No. 1 Oregon in the Big Ten Championship, the Nittany Lions host the SMU Mustangs in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
