We are about one month away from the start of the SEC baseball tournament.
Outside of one tough series at Auburn, where the Tigers were swept in three close games, things have been going along smoothly for #9 ranked LSU.
With many of the top 12 teams all coming from the SEC, this last month of the season and the SEC tournament will prove critical in deciding postseason seedings. LSU is hoping to ultimately host a super regional and repeat the success we saw two years ago when the team won a national championship.
The 31-7 Tigers received some good news on Saturday when multiple players were named on awards watchlists. LSU players Kade Anderson, Casan Evans, and Steven Milam have been recognized on national awards watchlists released by the College Baseball Foundation.
Anderson and Evans are included in the National Pitcher of the Year watch list, while Milam is featured on the Brooks Wallace Award watch list, which honors the best shortstop in the country.
Anderson, a sophomore left-handed pitcher has taken on the role of LSU’s primary weekend starter this season, boasting a record of 6-1 and a 3.92 ERA. He ranks second in the SEC with 91 strikeouts.
Evans, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Houston, Texas, is one of the premier relievers in the nation, achieving a 2-0 record and an impressive 0.67 ERA.
Milam, a sophomore from Las Cruces, New Mexico, is currently batting .306 and is recognized as one of the most exciting shortstops in the nation. He has tallied eight doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 39 RBIs, and scored 34 runs this season.
