Titans Make Surprise Shedeur Sanders Move Following Pro Day

The Tennessee Titans have begun to narrow their search as they prepare for the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. While a trade back could still be in play for first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi, it is becoming increasingly likely that they'll stick and pick who they feel is the best player in the class.

While many felt that Miami quarterback Cam Ward was a shoo-in, the Titans were still doing their due diligence on a handful of prospects and had a private workout set with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders for next week. On Saturday, however, Jim Wyatt of Titans.com announced that Tennessee and Sanders had agreed to cancel their upcoming private workout.

This surprise move likely means that the Titans' brass had seen enough of Sanders at his Pro Day and that they have all but officially made their decision with the first pick. Ward seems like an obvious choice now, considering he went through a private workout with the Tennessee, and Sanders did not.

A player like Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter or Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter could still be in the mix, but the Titans addressed those positions in free agency and have yet to find a viable option at quarterback. Sanders should still be an early draft pick, but it seems like him landing with Tennessee at No. 1 is off the table.
