The days of Tony Reali muting Bob Ryan and Woody Paige on "Around the Horn" are sadly over.
ESPN made the decision earlier this year to cancel "Around the Horn." The classic debate show has been around since Nov. 4, 2022. It wasn't until February 2004, however, that Reali became the full-time host. He's done an excellent job managing personalities over the past two decades.
During an interview with Barrett Media, the longtime host of "Around the Horn" opened up about ESPN's decision.
"It's ending because everything has to end," Reali told Barrett Media. "I think there’s more to this show, I think there’s more to gamed debate. There’s places for everything that any network would want to do with hosts and analysts who go performative and who even get into something that is really embracing debate."
With "Around the Horn" no longer part of ESPN's programming, Reali has announced his next chapter.
Reali, 46, has launched his very own YouTube channel. His first video might tug at people's heartstrings.
"OFFICIAL Tony Reali YouTube Channel is now beaming worldwide," Reali wrote on Instagram. "Everything sports, everything life, everything everything’! Welcome!Video number one is my goodbye to ESPN’s Around the Horn’s mute button. Saying it the only way I know how: with song! Loving you was “easy”, saying goodbye is hard. Goodnight, sweet prince."
Reali recently said that he could host a show similar to "Around the Horn." Obviously, that wouldn't happen on ESPN.
"I know I can do an Around the Horn 2.0-type show that has a different name or has a different bent," Reali said. "It’s just with streamers - I wouldn’t mind coming in and just kicking it around with people for a little while [as] I’m also pursuing the biggest jobs in sports TV, and then even stuff that’s outside that."
We can't wait to see what the future has in store for Reali.
