BYU added to the 2026 football recruiting class on Saturday. Three-star Colorado tight end Ty Goettsche announced his commitment via X (formerly Twitter).

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound two-sport talent has discovered his niche at Cherry Creek HS (Englewood, Colo.). Goettsche is currently noted as a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports and the No. 9 player out of Colorado’s class of 2026. He comes from one of the best teams in 5A play, coached by former NFL receiver and Denver Broncos play-by-play announcer Dave Logan.

Goettsche might be raw but he'll develop into a go-to target in any offensive scheme. The basketball background puts him with the likes of Tony Gonzalez with a knack for 50-50 throws. One think Goettsche will work on before getting to Provo is his speed. He shows flashes of quickness in certain area. He'll be a tremendous asset for the Cougars in run blocking situations.

Goettsche caught 13 passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns, helping the Bruins win a state championship last year. He'll be coming to BYU over several Power Four programs, including Utah and Penn State.

A huge recruiting win for Kalani Sitake and his staff. Goettsche plans to serve a mission following high school. He'll join the Cougars in 2028 at the latest.

Goettsche is the fourth player to join of BYU’s future class, joining Justice Brathwaite, Kaneal Sweetwyne, and PJ Takitaki.
