Tottenham Hotspur are looking to take advantage of Alexander Sorloth’s situation at Atletico Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur started their 2025-26 Premier League campaign in a very satisfactory manner as they emerged victorious with a 3-0 scoreline in the opening match of the competition against Burnley.

The Brazilian forward Richarlison was the main difference-maker for Spurs , as he scored 2 beautiful goals. This performance raised the hopes of the Tottenham fans about Thomas Frank’s ability to get the best out of the experienced striker, but if history is anything to go by, the more cautious of observers would still expect him to have difficult moments as the season advances.

In such a context, Fichajes reports that Spurs are looking for another experienced center-forward, and they have set their eyes on the Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth. The Norwegian has been an important player for Atletico Madrid since his move from Villarreal, but he still has only a secondary role in the Rojiblanco team.

This situation is generating discontent in the player and the North London side can take advantage of this unhappiness to get another proven striker into their team. Atletico Madrid themselves are wary of having a disgruntled player in the dressing room, and thus could be open to agree to an exit for the center-forward.

The Norwegian already has played in the Premier League

Previously, the Norwegian played for a brief time for Crystal Palace, and thus has some experience of playing in the Premier League. However, if he joins Tottenham, he would have more experience under his belt and would be a player with already proven goalscoring abilities.

Last season, Sorloth had 24 goals and two assists to his name in 53 total appearances for Atletico Madrid, even though he was not a starter in a significant part of these games.

At Spurs, he will also have to compete with Richarlison for a starting spot in the team, but keeping in view the injury and consistency problems that have plagued the Brazilian in the past, the Norwegian will have plenty of opportunities to showcase his talents and convince Thomas Frank to give him a more important role in the team.
