First reported by Eli Hoff, who is a writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, former Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel was arrested late Monday night for an alleged DWI in Camden County.

He was released early Tuesday morning. Attorney Bogdan A. Susan, who is representing Pinkel, released a statement to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch later Tuesday evening, indicating that Pinkel will plead not guilty to any DWI charge.

Pinkel was previously arrested for drunk driving while head coach of the Tigers in 2011. He pleaded guilty and was suspended by the university.

Pinkel, who is 73 years old, was Missouri’s head coach from 2001 to 2015. During this time, he led the Tigers to a 118-73 record and ten bowls, which resulted in six wins. Most notable were two Cotton Bowl victories, one in 2007 against Arkansas and then in 2013 against Oklahoma State. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
