It has become trendy for college football programs to hire a general manager with a famous name. According to former head coach Urban Meyer, he was approached by one recently to take on that role, but quickly decided against it.

While Meyer turned the offer down, he did admit to meeting with the school to gather more information. The information he received did not entice him to accept the offer.
“I said, ‘OK, what is the job description?’ They said, ‘Well, basically you meet with all the agents of the 17-, 18-year-olds,'” said Meyer. “And I thought, ‘I’d rather step on a rusty nail and pull it out myself.'
It is safe to assume that Meyer will not be any school’s general manager anytime soon…or ever. So, while this topic is dead, the lingering question is, which school offered Meyer this opportunity? He did not share this information so for now it will be a guessing game. While the effort was a failed one, at least the school took their shot.
