Admit it, U.S. fans—don’t you feel a sense of relief knowing the future of women’s soccer is in safe hands? Well, at least we hope so. With players like Trinity Rodman, there’s an instant feeling of security. But even though the young, dynamic forward gives her all to live up to the tag of being the next face of U.S. women’s soccer, carrying the weight of the spotlight isn’t nearly as easy as it might seem.
Whether she’s going for gold at the Olympics or supporting her boyfriend at Wimbledon, beyond her talent on the pitch, it’s the 23-year-old’s off-field aura that makes her a player Gen Z proudly connects with. But there must be a moment, both on or off the pitch, when the 22-year-old would be vulnerable.
Surprisingly, for Trinity Rodman, it is quite difficult to do so. “It’s hard to be vulnerable with people in general, and then trying to find the balance between expressing vulnerability and openness with the public—it’s hard sometimes,” she said while speaking to Interview Magazine.
