Trinity Rodman To Mallory Swanson- Nominations For ESPY Awards 2025 Revealed

One of the most prestigious awards in sports, the ESPY Awards, will take place today at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Athletes from different sports will be in attendance.

NFL, NBA, College Athletes, and more have been nominated for special awards, including USWNT stars Trinity Rodman and Mallory Swanson. Rodman currently plays for the Washington Spirit, while Swanson plays for the Chicago Stars FC.

Both USWNT stars are nominated for different awards and are competing amongst athletes from different sports. Along with that, the USWNT is also nominated for an award.

What is Rodman and Swanson nominated for?

Trinity Rodman is nominated for the Best Play award. Her play, which is nominated, is a goal she scored in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She scored a goal in extra time that took the USWNT to the semifinals. Her winner against Japan led to the USWNT winning its fifth Gold Medal in soccer.

Rodman is nominated against Saquon Barkley’s backwards hurdle in NFL game week nine‬‭, Tyrese Haliburton's winning basket in Game One of the NBA Finals, and Sabrina Ionescu's Logo Three Game Winner‬‭ in WNBA Finals Game‬‭ Three.

Swanson was nominated for Best Comeback Athlete after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon injury. Swanson had three surgeries and missed out on the 2023 World Cup but made it in time for the 2024 Summer Olympics with the USWNT.

Other nominees in this category are ice hockey player Gabe Landeskog, gymnast Suni Lee, and skier Lindsey Vonn. The USWNT is nominated for Best Team along with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Some popular nominees for different categories at the 2025 ESPYS are Caitlin Clark, Simone Biles, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Saquon Barkley, and ‬‭Shohei Ohtani.

Caitlin Clark is nominated for two awards, including Best WNBA player. Simone Biles is nominated for two awards as well, including the Best Athlete in Women's Sports award.

Gilgeous-Alexander, Barkley, and Ohtani are all nominated for Best Athlete in Men's Sports, along with Josh Allen.

For the Best Soccer Player award at the ESPYS, Aitana Bonmatí, Christian Pulisic, Lamine Yamal, and Alexia Putellas are nominated.
