The UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final is here. England will face Spain this Sunday, July 27 at 6:00 pm EDT at St. Jakob-Park in Basel. This is a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final that Spain won.

Expected Lineups

We are expecting England to line up in a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 formation that will include: GK Hannah Hampton, Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson, Esme Morgan, and Alex Greenwood, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James, and Alessia Russo.

Spain is expected to lineup in a 4-3-3 formation: GK Cata Coll,Olga Carmona, Laia Aleixandri, Irene Paredes, Ona Batlle, Aitana Bonmatí, Alexia Putellas, and Patri Guijarro, Mariona Caldentey, Clàudia Pina and Esther Gonzàlez.

Injuries & Team News

England are injury free. Lauren James was a doubt after an ankle issue but she’s fit and trained normally. Captain Leah Williamson is also good to go. Long term absentees like Millie Bright, Mary Earps and Fran Kirby are out, either through injury or retirement, but Sarina Wiegman has a full 23 to choose from.

Spain are also injury free. Laia Aleixandri returns after serving a suspension and will probably go straight back into central defence. No new injuries have been reported ahead of the final.

Predictions & What to Expect

On paper this is as close as it gets. Spain have the edge in recent history, they’re the World Cup and Nations League champions and haven’t lost in 10 games. Their midfield trio is the best in the world and they’ve been clinical all tournament.

England know how to dig deep. They’ve already come from behind to win in the knockout rounds, against Sweden and Italy on penalties. Wiegman’s team have been here before and their experience could be the difference in a tight game. The stats are split: Opta give Spain 51.5% chance of winning to England’s 48.5%. This is as even as it gets.

Key battles to watch: Bonmatí vs Walsh in midfield and Bronze vs Pina down the right. England’s bench could be the difference, Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang have been super subs all tournament.

A final for the ages, two top teams with world class players and history between them. Spain have the edge in form and flair but England have the grit, depth and tactical discipline to win back-to-back Euros. Expect drama, tension and a game that goes to the wire.
