Mason Jones has voiced his frustration a few months after his Fight of the Year contender at UFC London.
At the event this past March, lightweight prospect Mason Jones picked up his third straight win since returning to the UFC.
Nicknamed ‘The Dragon’, he went up against Axel Sola, a fellow European talent who was making just his second appearance in the promotion.
The pair put on an entertaining scrap for 15 minutes that ended with Jones taking a unanimous decision and extending his streak to three wins in a row.
Since the start of this year, the UFC has doubled its post-fight bonuses to $100,000, up from the previous $50,000. That’s a big boost for fighters trying to make their mark again.
But several months after his fight in London, Jones is still waiting for that bonus and took to social media to air his frustration.
“These anti-money laundering checks are really making me wish I was laundering money,” Jones wrote on X. “Probably be easier to explain than my deposit hasn’t been paid by UFC yet.”
One fan replied: “Just be patient, UFC are struggling to make money these days.”
Jones played along with a joke: “Hard times all around. I’m gonna start selling feet pics soon. Like fingers they’re very weird toes. $20 you can see.”
The new bonus structure also includes a separate $25,000 reward for finishes. However, if a fighter earns both a finish and a post-fight bonus in the same night, they only receive the higher amount — not both combined.
In Jones’ case though it wouldn’t have mattered as he wasn’t able to secure a finish over Sola as he won by decision.
