The USC Trojans turned to an Air Raid approach under Lincoln Riley. But the ground attack isn't ignored on the recruiting trail. Especially with a highly-anticipated duo coming to the 2026 class.
USC hasn't seen a formidable duo in the backfield since the days of Reggie Bush and LenDale White. As the pairing spearheaded two national championships. Now, Deshonne Redeaux and Shahn Alston have fans envisioning the new Bush/White in the Land of Troy.
But is one of future USC backs embracing the comparison? Redeaux spoke exclusively with Athlon Sports during Marmonte League media day about the stirring comparison for both RBs.
"Shahn is my guy. We compliment each other so well," Redeaux began. "He's a big back, I'm more of the speedy back. I feel like you always need a one-two punch in the backfield. And that's going to be me and him."
But how does he feel about the Bush/White chatter?
"A lot of people are comparing us to [White and Bush]. We're going to be Shahn Alston and Deshonne Redeaux," the Oaks Christian RB stated.
Bush ironically showed up to the Oaks Christian campus at Westlake Village, Ca., to visit Redeaux during the spring. The Heisman Trophy winner's visit sparked theories that the Lions star would choose USC over his influx of offers. Redeaux ultimately chose the Trojans nearly a month later.
The 5-foot-9, 205-pound Alston is the higher ranked RB per 247Sports -- coming in at No. 7. Alston has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons entering his senior campaign at Harvey High School in Painesville, Oh.
Redeaux isn't far behind Alston in the rankings, checking in at No. 12. He's fresh off piling 1,263 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns in '24. Redeaux also enters his fourth season at the varsity level.
