The 2026 class has been pretty much dominated by the USC Trojans, who have been ranked No. 1 in the class for the majority of the offseason, with a few instances where that has changed.
The Oregon Ducks and LSU Tigers have had some of their own moments, but really, it's been all Trojans when it comes to the biggest headlines recruiting-wise. And, they still sit at No. 1 with a pretty comfortable gap that's only expected to grow after recent predictions.
They just landed a five-star tight end in Mark Bowman, and are now looking like they are about to land another four-star player, adding to their already 16 that they have, with the No. 2 class in LSU having six. Now, they are predicted to land four-star CB Peyton Dyer.
And there is a reason why the Oregon Ducks, who were competing with the Trojans near the top of the class, have fallen down to ninth and the Trojans have stayed at No. 1. The Trojans are doing everything better when it comes to recruiting visits, even down to the food.
Let's just start with the fact that the Trojans quite literally rolled out the red carpet for their recruits on visits this week. No, really, they had a red carpet with flashing camera lights and all sorts of other things, which only helped the recruits and their families feel special and wanted. I could be wrong, but Oregon isn't doing that.
Then we move on to another thing that is pretty simple, actually, but doing more than what's required goes the extra mile with these kids.

Food. When you look at some of the things the Oregon Ducks recruits got fed this week, it's small pieces of salmon, loose corn, and mashed potatoes, at least that's what it looks like from the photo.

When you look at what the Trojans are doing, it's not comparable. No one else is giving them steak and lobster from Rex Steakhouse on top of a skyscraper.
The Trojans are just doing everything better at this point.
